Who we are

A firm built on senior judgement, not headcount.

Established in Islamabad in 2020. Sixty plus clients across thirteen industries since.

Muhammad Abbas & Co. is a partner-led firm of Chartered Accountants registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. We hold a Satisfactory Quality Control Review rating, comply with Audit Oversight Board requirements, and carry a Satisfactory rating under ICAP's Audit Practice Review and Support Programme.

We were founded in 2020 by a Chartered Accountant who had already spent a decade inside larger practices and multinational finance functions. That combination — a young firm run by experienced people — is deliberate. It means our clients get the seniority that larger firms reserve for their biggest accounts, and the responsiveness that larger firms structurally cannot offer.

Today we serve corporates, joint ventures, public sector bodies, provident funds and development organisations. They stay with us because the person who scoped their engagement is the person who reviews it.

One belief runs through all of it: we add value to your business. Not as a tagline — as the test we apply to every deliverable before it leaves the office.

Why clients choose us

The difference is proximity.

We compete on accountability, not scale. Five things define how we work.

Direct partner access

Your engagement is led and reviewed by a partner. Strategic judgement on every file, and a named person you can actually reach — not a relationship manager who routes your question to someone you'll never meet.

Independently reviewed quality

ICAP has reviewed our practice under its Quality Control Review programme and rated us Satisfactory. We publish what that review actually examined, and how to verify it, rather than displaying the badge alone.

Regulatory depth where it counts

Working knowledge of the FBR, SECP, PRA, KPRA and the provincial authorities — the portals, the timelines, the officers and the practical consequences of getting it wrong. Combined with IFRS, ISA, COSO, ISO 27001, COBIT and SOC frameworks applied as a matter of course, not as a selling point.

A multidisciplinary bench

Chartered accountants, tax specialists, a High Court advocate and certified IT governance professionals under one roof. When your problem crosses from tax into corporate law into systems, you don't need three firms and a coordination meeting.

International engagements, not international branding

Cross-border work is not a page on our website. Chinese state-owned construction groups delivering CPEC infrastructure. An NYSE-listed company, where our team tested the operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. World Bank–funded project audits. ZATCA and UAE Corporate Tax compliance delivered remotely into the Gulf. IFRS 9 expected credit loss and financial instrument valuation work across Pakistani, Gulf and international reporting. Offshore finance support for practices in the UK and North America.

Financial Instruments & IFRS 9

Classification, measurement, impairment and valuation of financial instruments under IFRS 9 and IFRS 13 — for Pakistani, Gulf and international reporting, including IFRS as endorsed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Classification & measurement — SPPI testing and business model assessment
  • Expected credit loss (ECL) modelling — PD, LGD, EAD and staging
  • Simplified-approach provision matrices for trade receivables
  • Forward-looking macroeconomic overlays and scenario weighting
  • Fair valuation under IFRS 13 — Levels 1, 2 and 3
  • Valuation of derivatives, convertibles and structured instruments
  • Employee and investor share option valuation
  • Effective interest rate and amortised cost computations
  • Concessional and related-party loan fair valuation
  • Modification, derecognition and hedge accounting documentation
  • Hedge effectiveness testing
  • IFRS 7 and IFRS 13 disclosure preparation
  • Independent review of management's ECL model
  • Auditor-ready valuation memoranda and workpapers
Open this service →

Independence. Valuation and ECL modelling involve significant judgement. Where we act as your statutory auditor, we do not perform these services in a way that would create a self-review threat under ICAP's Code of Ethics — for public interest entities, material subjective valuations are provided only to non-audit clients. We will tell you which side of that line your engagement falls on before we quote.

Middle East

Gulf compliance, handled by people who know both ends of the transaction.

ZATCA, UAE Corporate Tax, VAT and IFRS reporting — for GCC businesses, and for Pakistani groups expanding into the Gulf.

The Gulf's compliance environment has changed faster in five years than in the previous twenty-five. Saudi Arabia's e-invoicing mandate, UAE Corporate Tax, Economic Substance Regulations and transfer pricing documentation now carry real penalties — and most of the work is finance-function work, not local-licence work. That is where we operate.

Inbound · Established in the GCC

For businesses operating in the Gulf

Compliance and reporting support for entities established in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

  • ZATCA VAT registration, returns and Zakat computation support
  • E-invoicing (Fatoora) Phase 2 integration readiness
  • UAE Corporate Tax registration, computation and first-return readiness
  • UAE VAT returns and Economic Substance Regulation assessments
  • IFRS financial statement preparation — including IFRS as endorsed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
  • IFRS 9 expected credit loss modelling and provision matrices for GCC receivables portfolios
  • Fair valuation of financial instruments under IFRS 13, Levels 1 to 3
  • Bookkeeping, payroll and management reporting in TallyPrime, Tally ERP 9, QuickBooks and Xero
  • Audit readiness — we prepare the file and the schedules; your licensed local auditor reviews and signs

Outbound · Expanding from Pakistan

For Pakistani businesses expanding into the Gulf

Structuring and cross-border support for groups moving into Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

  • Entity and holding-structure options, and their Pakistan tax consequences
  • Pakistan–GCC cross-border tax and treaty positioning
  • Transfer pricing documentation for related-party flows
  • Group consolidation where a GCC entity sits above or below a Pakistan entity
  • Intercompany and shareholder loan fair valuation under IFRS 9 across both jurisdictions
  • Profit repatriation, forex and SBP compliance
  • Coordinated reporting across both jurisdictions, on one calendar

How we work in the Gulf

MAC serves GCC clients remotely from Islamabad. A physical Gulf presence is planned. We do not hold SOCPA or UAE Ministry of Economy auditor licensing and do not perform statutory audit in those jurisdictions — where a local audit opinion is required, we prepare the file to audit-ready standard and work alongside your licensed auditor.

Global delivery

Your back office, staffed by chartered professionals.

White-label bookkeeping, close and compliance support for accounting practices in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Practices face the same squeeze: more compliance work, fewer qualified people willing to do it, and clients who won't absorb the cost. Offshoring is now standard. What isn't standard is offshoring to a chartered accountancy firm rather than a processing centre.

MAC's Global Delivery team works as an extension of your practice, under your brand. Our accounting team are certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors, work to IFRS and local GAAP requirements, and are supervised by chartered professionals. We never contact your clients, and we never compete for them.

The security question, answered properly.

Handing client financial data to an offshore team is a real risk, and you are right to interrogate it. Our IT governance function is led by a certified specialist holding ISO 27001, COBIT, NIST and SOC 2 credentials and more than fifteen industry certifications — in-house, not outsourced.

  • Role-based access control, per-engagement permissioning
  • Signed NDAs at firm and individual level
  • Controlled workstations; no removable media, no local client-data storage
  • Encrypted transfer and storage; audit-logged access
  • ISO 27001-aligned information security practices

How we work

A clear path, start to finish.

Five stages. You know at every point who is doing what, and when you will hear from us.

01

Understand

An in-depth discussion of your business, its pressures and its objectives, with the people who actually run it. We scope nothing until we understand what you're solving for.

02

Design

A tailored scope built around your specific risks, deadlines and goals — written down, priced, and agreed before work starts.

03

Execute

Partners and senior professionals oversee the engagement directly. Risk-based, with effort concentrated where exposure is greatest.

04

Communicate

Transparent updates on an agreed rhythm. No surprises at the reporting date, and no unanswered emails.

05

Partner

High-quality delivery, and a relationship that continues after the file closes. Most of our clients came back for a second service before they engaged us for a third.

The portfolio in numbers

Five years. Sixty plus clients.

Every number below is a client we have actually served.

0Direct clients served
0Industries served
0Years average team experience
0Chinese infrastructure groups served
0Regulatory ratings — ICAP, AOB, QCR, APRSP
2020Established in Islamabad

Many clients across multiple service lines — audit, tax, accounting, advisory and technology. National and international engagements · Public and private sector · Companies, joint ventures, trusts and provident funds · CPEC-linked infrastructure · Donor-funded development programmes.

What it means for you

What you actually get.

Credentials matter. So does what happens on a Tuesday afternoon when something goes wrong.

A named person, not a queue

You get a partner's mobile number and a named engagement lead. When an FBR notice lands with a fourteen-day clock, you are not explaining your business to a call handler.

Deadlines you can plan around

Committed dates with transparent status reporting. If something is going to slip, you hear it from us early — not from the regulator later.

Advice you can implement

Recommendations written for the person who has to act on them, with the practical constraints of your business accounted for. Not a theoretical memo with a disclaimer attached.

Effort where the risk is

A risk-based approach means we concentrate work where your exposure is greatest, rather than spreading it evenly across areas that don't need it. You pay for judgement, not volume.

One firm across the problem

Tax, corporate law, systems and assurance under one roof. When your issue crosses disciplines, it doesn't cross firms.

Confidentiality that is structured

Independence protocols, conflict checks, information security aligned to ISO 27001, and ICAP's ethical framework behind all of it.

Our people

Senior expertise you can actually reach.

Chartered accountants, tax specialists, legal counsel and certified technology professionals — working on your engagement directly.
