Why MAC / Clients & experience

Sixty-plus clients. Thirteen industries. Five years.

Chinese state-owned infrastructure groups, fibre operators, pharmaceutical manufacturers, endowment funds, donor-funded programmes and owner-managed businesses — served from one office in Islamabad.

Breadth of sector experience matters for one practical reason: when we arrive at your business, the learning curve is already behind us. We know what a CPEC project audit requires, how donor reporting differs from statutory reporting, which provincial authority governs your service revenue, how to rebuild a chart of accounts for investor-grade reporting, when a corporate structure needs restructuring ahead of a deal, and where a control gap in your systems will actually surface.

What the work looks like

Anonymised, because most of what we do cannot be written up any other way.

Construction · Foreign branch

A Chinese state-owned group entering Pakistan

The position
A foreign branch delivering infrastructure work, with SECP and Board of Investment obligations, contractor affairs to manage with public sector counterparties, and no in-country finance function.
What we did
Branch registration and ongoing SECP and BOI compliance, statutory and project audit, taxation across federal and provincial authorities, and coordination of contractor affairs with the client's counterparties.
Why it mattered
A single accountable firm across registration, reporting and tax, in a regulatory system the client did not operate in.
Development sector · Donor-funded

A donor-funded programme requiring World Bank standards

The position
Project audits to donor specification, which differ from statutory audit in documentation, sampling and reporting format, and are unforgiving about evidence.
What we did
Project audits to the donor's standard, with documentation prepared to survive review by the funding body rather than only by the entity.
Why it mattered
Continued funding depends on the audit being accepted. A technically correct file in the wrong format is a failed audit.
Listed entity · ICFR

Controls testing for an NYSE-listed company

The position
Management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting required testing of design and operating effectiveness ahead of external audit fieldwork.
What we did
Tested the operating effectiveness of implemented controls alongside the client's internal audit function, with workpapers prepared to a standard the external auditor would rely on.
Why it mattered
Few firms of our size in Pakistan have worked to a standard a PCAOB-registered auditor subsequently relied upon.
Technology · Investor readiness

A software company preparing for diligence

The position
Books adequate for filing but not for investor scrutiny — reconciliations outstanding, chart of accounts unfit for reporting, revenue recognition undocumented.
What we did
Rebuilt the accounting records, designed a chart of accounts fit for management and investor reporting, and prepared IFRS financial statements.
Why it mattered
Diligence findings on basic bookkeeping cost valuation long before they cost the deal.
